Application mapping

We are planning a Windows XP to win7 migration this year, our site is still on SCCM 2007 SP2, no plans to migrate to 2012 yet (budget).

I was reading somewhere that it was possible to automate the re-deployment of a packages by mapping old XP package to new Win7 package or application, so the reinstall is automated during or post deployment.

Can anyone refer me to good source on that?

Internet Explorer 11 deployment

I run SCCM 2012 R2, and use software updates to distribute patches to my Win7 x64 machines.

I want to Internet Explorer 11 thru software updates as well.  But I plan to use Enterprise Mode.

In testing this, just deploying IE11 thru software updates does NOT include patch KB2929437, which is what enables Enterprise Mode (despite the date stamp on IE11 in my console showing a date stamp of 5/13/2014 which is later than KB2929437 was released)

Anyway, I don't want a 2 part deployment, first IE11, reboot, then KB2929437.

Is there a better way to handle this - or maybe an updated version of IE11 that just includes the enhancement in the KB?

thanks in advance

Tony

Hello all,

I am on an SCCM assignement to deploy few applications. Now I've been asked to test those apps if they are able to be silently installed on Windows 7 client(s). Most of them are .exe files / apps.

Can anyone please help me out with this? How can I test this?

Thanks in advance! :)

Batch file in a TS fails if another task follows it

I am have a simple batch file removing two reg entries.  It runs fine as a package and IF its the only thing in the TS.  If I place any step after it or place it anywhere else in the TS it fails. I even added a simple reboot as the next step and oddly the reg files are still there.  Makes no sence to me.

I am not a sccm guru or a script person and pull most of my stuff from work others have done.   I included the batch file below. I do not know what the first few lines do but if I rem them out it does not work, and the only way I could get it to terminate was to exit 0 which is fine when it works properly.

I am open to any fix or suggested course of action  John Michael

Hello,

Since a couple of day we are experiencing software download issue (hangs).

I had a look on the IIS logs on the DP's and found a lot of 402.1 errors

10.248.10.15 GET /SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/6fc3dcab-3fc2-4fac-8a72-e0e33c0a2b34/sccm /windowsxp-kb2957503-x86-custom-enu.exe 80 - 179.1.74.39 Microsoft+BITS/6.7 401 2 5 1509 0

They are always two lines. One with the ip only and 401.2 error and a second line with Computername and ip and code 206

Any idea of what is happening ?

Hello Friends,

I created a Package for: "Windows6.1-KB2492702-x64.msu" and pushed the file to DP servers.

In the Program i used the following command line:

wusa.exe D:\Software Packages\KB2492702\ Windows6.1-KB2492702-x64.msu /quiet /norestart

clients accepts the package and after that, deployment  status shows: waiting .

I am not sure what i am missing here .

Thanks for all your help in advance.

Hi Guys...

I try installing a package through SCCM 2007 but it fails with exit code 9009 in execmgr.log.

Trying to run it via psexec also fails.

The package has successfully installed in around 200 machines without error.

Machine is registered successfully in domain and  no issue with IP and name resolution.

Also restarted the machine but same persists...

What i see from execmgr.log is installation doesn't start at all, the moment it is triggered, it throws 9009.

Any help is appreciated...

Moving a DFS share with source files for all applications

Hi,

Is there any concerns we need to have in mind when we want to move all source files for our applications from 1 network share to another (On same server or different)? Could this move make the hash or something else on the source files corrupt when SCCM compares files on DP with the moved source files?

Preventing 3G connected users from applying SCCM Packages

$

I have a challenge where I want to disable all updates to clients when VPN connected over 3G. When the client connects user wireless or wired I want the SCCM updates to be available again. I cannot create a subnet or assign these users an ip range.

One idea is to create a firewall rule to prevent access to SCCM when a user is connected to the network over a 3G connection\adapter. The view is that we'd create a group policy within the OU and filter using WMI to apply firewall rule certain users and prevent access to SCCM by blocking connections  from the SCCM client to the SCCM server whilst connected over 3G.

Install 3 software packages to one collection

$

I need to deploy 3 different pieces of software to one collection. I setup program 1 and deployed it to an empty collection. I then setup program 2 install enabling the "Run Another program first" option referencing program 1. I then setup program 3, again enabling "Run Another program first" referencing program 2. Program 2 and 3 installed but program 1 did not.

Is it possible to install the 3 in the manner I described or should I be looking at Task Sequence as an option?

BDP shows 0 bytes free on site system status

I have successfully set up multiple (over 100) BDP's on windows XP SP3 machines in our single site SCCM 2007 SP2 R2 environment.  Now I have 2 site systems showing up as critical status in that the console shows 0 bytes free and % Free as "unknown".  If I right click on the site system and open resource manager, there is over 50 GB free on the hard drive.  I have tried to wait a week or 2 to see if the message clears up, but it is still showing the same message.

What should I be looking for to clear this up?  Thanks!

Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone had, had this issue before and how they resolved this?

I have just stand up 2 DPs that are also Primary Servers of their respective domains.  They are Windows Server 2008 R2, while the Central Site and other Primary Sites/DPs are running Windows 2003.  These 2 DPs won't receive packages from the Central Site while the other DPs don't have any issues.  I have even created a test package locally on the problematic DP and it won't gets copied.  I have searched online but no one seems to have the "exact" match of my logs.  Here's the distmgr.log excerpt, your help is greatly appreciated:

How to create a package to Upgrade Lync client 2010 to Lync 2013 using SCCM

Hi,

I want to create a package to upgrade Lync client 2010 to Lync 2013 using SCCM. It should uninstall Lync 2010 and Install Lync 2013.

We have Windows 7 PC’s running Lync 2010  client.  What I need to do is install the Lync 2013 client and then uninstall the Lync 2010  client.  Using the Office Customization Took, I am able to install the Lync 2013 client fine, however the 2010 client isn’t not removed.

Please let me know the procedure to achieve this requirement.
