Configuring Failover Cluster Server Share as a Distribution Point

I am trying to configure a server share as a Distribution Point and am running into problems.  I am running SCCM R2 on Server 2008.  I am trying to use a clustered share coming from 2008 R2 Failover Cluster.

I have been trying to get this working for the better part of 2 days now, and I have successfully created a Distribution Point to another 2008 Server (non-R2) by simply using the site system (not the server share).

When I try to use the server share option, I keep receiving an error with Message ID 4701 stating that the SMS Site System Status Summarizer cannot access storage object\\servername\sharename$ on site system\\servername\sharename$

The operating system reported error 2147942467: The network name cannot be found.

The server share is defined as a site system as \\servername\sharename$

I am trying to create a "Packages" directory under it, so I'm using the option "Share the distribution folder" under the Data Access tab of the Package.

In addition, I have given local admin rights to the site server on both nodes of the cluster.  I have given the site server modify rights to the share and NTFS permissions.  I have given Authenticated Users Read access to the share and NTFS.

As I mentioned, I can take another server and define a Site System as a DP and everything will work properly.  I am still missing something though regarding using a Server Share.

Issue Deploying Software that runs fine with bat script

Hi All,

Having issue deploying software via an optional advertisement - effectively what it does is run an msi (Install Script Shield 11.5) once complete it will end and then attempt to run the next item of software, this works all well and good when running the script manually however when running as advertisement it will only run the 1st msi and then fail. Any idea's?

Apologies I meant to put I get a IDriverT error after the failed msi fault code 1603

Can't install apps from Run Advertised Programs

I am busy building a Vista SP1 MOE to be deployed via SCCM, and mostly everything has been working.

 

I have two machines that had the image deployed to them and everything was working fine. Then after a reboot, I get this message in "Run Advertised Programs"

 

"No Programs are available to be run from a Terminal Services session" 

 

However I AM LOGGED ON LOCALLY TO THE MACHINE. Neither machine has ever has a RDP session to it (on one of them, the allow RDP connections is still diabled)

 

There are some apps that can be installed via "Programs and Features" > "Install from network" but not all advertisements are listed there.

Problem deploying packages to SCCM client machines WaitingContent

Hi

We've set up a lab enviroment to test SCCM 2007 to 2012 migration.  At the moment it comprises a clone of the SCCM 2007 (Live) server, a SQL server(built from scratch), DC (cloned from live) and a couple of client pcs.

Testing software deployment, the AD deployment groups synchronize fine with the SCCM collections.  Advertisements are then downloaded to the client pcs ok, however, at this point the deployment gets stuck at "WaitingContent".

Server & Client Setup (Newly Built Lab Environment):

SCCM 2007 R2

Client ver: 4.00.6487.2000

Site Mode: Mixed

Boundary: We have 1 FAST boundary (It’s the domain)

SCCM Clients: 2

Only ONE Primary Site. (No Sec. or Branch)

All the clients is approved

This is Standard Distro Point, and is NOT protected DistroPoint

BITS stops transfer job to client machine

Hello Experts

I am facing issue with BITS transfer. few of package files copy from DP and halts, this throws Waiting for content error.

it generates event in eventvwr on client machine. can someone help me. here is the event details.

BITS stopped transferring the CCMDTS Job transfer job that is associated with the http://DP:80/SMS_DP_LSDP/packageID/Program files/Java/JRE1.7.0_55/lib/zi/Antarctica/Vostok URL. The status code is 0x0.

sccm 2012, wsus, failed to publish client

Hi

ok, we had some issues with the offline imaging injecting updates into the images after looking at some posts on here I decided to uninstall wsus take the role off the server it was on then reinstall again. we have also updated to R2 the CU1, knock on effect from this is the client isn't being published see log below., my question is how do I get the clients matched up?

Very Urgent__ Restore accidently deleted task sequence folder

Hi Guys...

We have created a task sequence folder under SCCM SP1 console to contain all task sequences we created  for deploying office 2007.

Today my collegue accidently deleted entire folder. Our backup is set to run daily but not sure how to restore just one folder with in the console?

I have just started copying backup files of central site server to other server and would check it by dumping in test environment to see if we can retrieve that,....


but any ideas in mean while??????

Windows Installer Error 2756

Hello,

I am receiving the following error when attempting to upgrade an application from an MSI:

"DEBUG: Error 2756:  The property 'INSTALLLOCATION' was used as a directory property in one or more tables, but no value was ever assigned."

Can someone tell me: Is it complaining that it can't find the "INSTALLLOCATION" value for the already-installed version of the application, or is it that the new MSI doesn't define that variable?

Either way, is there a registry trick or some other method I can use to get around this error?

Create collection query that contains computers without .NET Framework 4.5 installed

Hi,

I need a collection that contains only computers without .NET Framework 4.5 AND have Windows 7 with SP1 installed. I took a stab at it and it looked pretty good initially but the collection count never goes down as computers get .NET Framework 4.5 installed. I examined several computers in the collection and found that close to half of them in the collection already have .NET Framework 4.5 installed so obviously my query is flawed. Here is what I have that doesn't seem to be working as intended:

This collection should include 32 and 64-bit Windows 7 SP1 computers that do not have .NET Framework 4.5 installed.

Deploy Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 with SCCM

Hi

Has anyone been able to deploy NAV 2009 R2 SCCM.
The NAV setup.exe does not want to run with the nt authority\system, which SCCM uses to install applications as Administrator.
The NAV setup.exe will also not run as logged on user as it needs elevated privileges.

This has been run from distribution point and downloaded to cache with the same result where the setup.exe fails to run

Script to prompt user to run or reschedule install advertisement.

I have a script in a package that ask the user to run the application install or abort (exit with a error code).  I would like to give them the option to run the install at a later time (kick off the advertisement at a later time).

Does anyone know how do reschedule the SCCM advertisement to run for a later time on the local client (not reschedule the adv on the server... would effect more than just one PC).

content not moving to DP server

one of the DP server is not getting content from the Primary server, only the folder is getting created and the content is not getting copied.

Collection based on software not installed in last 28 days

Hi All,

Would somebody be able to help me with a query I am trying to write to populate a collection in SCCM?

I am trying to find all systems that have an application installed but have not had that application installed in the last 28 days.

I am able to create the query to find all systems that have the software installed, and can then add the paramater of installed since a specific date, but I would like to use the datedif() function rather than a static date so the collection is always updated on a schedule.

I'm afraid it is one step too far for my current ability with queries!!!

SCCM 2007 R3 - Cannot successfully xfer Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 upgrae package using BITS (web.config file)

Hi there

SCCM 2007 R3 site, with a package I've created for upgrading Windows 8 Enterprise to Windows8.1 Enterprise.

During the xfer of data to cache, a file copy is required  with The BITS error log indicates this file ( web.config.default).  is being blocked from download from the DP's IIS site (I can understand why these files would be blocked).

I've edited ApplicationHost.config file and removed all request filtering and file extension restrictions but this doesn't seem to have helped, the file is still being blocked from download

Can anyone help me understand what I need to do on the IIS site (which config files are required to be edited ) to allow download of a web.config.default file, which is part of this package, to a clients cache?

'Must be running in full OS' issue when distributing software through TS

Recently I've come up against a problem where during a task sequence certain packages do not run. I'm met with the following lines in the smsts log:

[The step (Install "2D Design-Install 2D Design") must be running in full OS]

and

[Failed to run the action: Install "2D Design-Install 2D Design". The request is not supported. (Error: 80070032; Source: Windows)]

The packages run fine locally after the ts has completed. They are silent EXE files and have been successfully deployed elsewhere in my environment however after creating a 'thin' OS image and having all programs like flash, java etc... install via command line through a TS rather than being built into the image, these EXE packages we deal with have stopped working.

All other packages including microsoft office xp / 2007 all install fine without any errors or failures. The sccm client is also succesfully installed prior to the installation of the packages.

I'm using SCCM R2 SP2.

I've added two custom 'restart PC' steps to make sure it's not a system restart that is needed.

If anyone has any ideas i'd be most greatful.

I have a number of computers that, when I access via the Advanced Client Spy, show Software Distribution Execution Requests, for advertisements for task sequences that are no longer assigned to the given client.

Where can I go to clean this up? Client Registry?  WMI?

Packaging applications for Windows 8 tablets

Hello,

Is it possible to package and distribute Windows 8 applications to tablets? The application I need to deploy will be an in-house application. We have SCCM 2007 SP2, the source will be given as .APK file.

SCCM 2007 - Package Creation

By default, when you are creating a Package in SCCM.  The name, version, manufacturer and language fields are present.

When typing in the version, manuf or lang fields, it then appears in the name - how can that be disabled?

Eg.

Name: Latest Google Chrome

Version: 36.143.4.00

Language: en

SCCM will then name the package Latest Google Chrome 36.143.4.00 en when all we want it to say is "Latest Google Chrome" but still have the version and language to be associated to the package.

We want everything to be separate and not affect the name we choose. Can this be done and if so, how?
