Anyone attempted to push out/upgrade to iTunes 11 using SCCM software distribution, or SCUP?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has been successful with this? Older versions seemed more favourable to automated installs, but I haven't been able to get this to work for 10 or 11.

Thanks.

DP constantly processing orphaned package

Hi,

I'm running SCCM2007 and have a remote site DP configured that is constantly trying to process a package as shown in the distmgr.log.  The package no longer exists on the main server and having searched the SQL db, I'm unable to locate it anywhere, yet it still tries every couple of seconds.

I've tried the queries below and nothing is returned.

SELECT * FROM PkgServers where NALPath = '["Display=\\<Name of DP>\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=<Site Code>"]\\<Name of DP>\' and PkgID = '<ID>

select * from SMSPackages where PkgID = 'XXX00001'
select * from PkgStatus where ID = 'XXX00001'
select * from PkgServers where PkgID = 'XXX00001'

The distmgr.box/incoming has been emptied

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Trouble Distributing packages to DP

I have a DP on the other side of the world that has been acting up lately. I distribute packages to other DPs fine, but some of the packages don't ever show up as "installed" on my sccm 2007 console. They stay in "Install Pending".

Looking at the status messages, I see a ton of information messages:

2300 - beginning to process...

2342 - starting to process...

2301 - completed processing successfully...

These repeat over and over and over into the thousands for the same few packages. When I examine the distmgr.log on the primary site server, I don't see it having issues sending to this DP. When I examine sender.log I see it writing to the DP successfully. On the dp (which is in a secondary site), I see the distmgr.log go through spurts of processing a ton of the mentioned packages, but never completing or finishing. On a lot of them I see that the versions are wrong.

I've been looking at other suggestions, and I might try the PreloadPkgonSite tool. However in looking at the distmgr\incoming inbox on my secondary site/dp, there are a bunch of xxx.pkg files (nothing in the Incoming\bad folder). These .pkg files aren't named the same as my package ids in question, but when i examine the contents they reference the packages in plain text.

My question is: Should I delete (or move) these .pkg files in the inboxes\distmgr.box\incoming folder on my secondary/dp? I don't see these files on other sites, just this one, and there are a lot, but only a dozen or so recently.

SCCM Agent error - Downloading Program issue

Hi all,

hopefully someone can help me with my SCCM issue.

i am running SCCM in my environment which has been upgraded from SMS 2003. i am still in the upgrade period of the SCCM agent but 90% is now running the new agent and 10% is still running SMS2003SP3 agent.

It had come to light that those runing the SCCM agent can not download a program from Add New Programs when it is assigned to. during the download there is NO progress bar and it hangs\loops.
after a matter of seconds the DataTransferService.log displays this

I have done some research on the web and a lot of people are centralising the problem to be the parent server and recommending IIS lockdown etc, but i found the download to be still working on the SMS 2003SP3 clients assigned to the same parent so this tells me it can't be permissions.

has any one any advice of where to start looking next?

Thanks

Adobe Pro XI MST file

I download and customized the Adobe XI Pro MSI file and also saved the MST file.  Now, when I run the MSI file, it asks all the options, which have been customized and saved.

I will save the whole package in a shared folder and let the user run the installer to install the Adobe Pro XI in their machines without selecting any option.  Any idea about accomplishing this task.

Custom distribution share removed from all BDPs

Prior to my arrival it was standard practice to use a custom share folder when distributing packages. From the console this is in thepackage properties window on the data access tab. They were instructed to selectShare the distribution folder (2nd radio button) and provide aShare name of CommonRootFolder\Vendor_Application_Version. SCCM then creates a share called CommonRootFolder and a folder under that.

Recently we were getting complaints that users were not getting software at our branches. While troubleshooting we discovered that all of our branch distribution points no longer have the CommonRootFolder share. To fix that issue we're updating a small package which seems to recreate the share, but was wondering if anyone has ever heard of this happening.

Hi,

We are using sccm 2012 r2 cu2. we are in middle of migration.

We have in sccm 2007 under secondary site server name assd1 it contain MP and DP role.

Under ASSd1 server i was created one of the distribution point server and copied all the package to the new server assd2.

I created this new distribution point last week.

Today I gathered data from sccm 2007 to sccm2012.

Previously I did the same almost 5 servers and after sccm2012 administration-->under site hierarchy--> shared distribution point it shows. after that i will migrate to sccm2012 DP

but this server not showing. but when i saw migctrl.log i can see the log

The DP assd2.xxx.org is eligible for upgrade

but not showing under administration-->under site hierarchy--> shared distribution

Microsoft DirectAccess Connectivity Assistant

Hi.

Deploying Microsoft DirectAccess Connectivity Assistant from SCCM 2007 to windows 7 clients.

Client is rebooting automatically during  / after? program instal.

In Advertisement status i get this message:

Windows Installer per-user elevation of this program ("C010023F" - "DirectAccess client x64") failed for advertisement "C0120415". The operating system reported error 1603: Fatal error during installation. This program was started. Please check the status of this program to determine whether or not it was completed sucessfully
Possible causes: The version of Windows Installer on the computer is less than version 2.0, or the setup program does not support Windows Installer per-user elevated rights installations.
Possible solutions: Update the version of Windows Installer on the computer to version 2.0 or later, or contact the software vendor that supplied the install program to determine if a version of setup that supports per-user elevated rights is available.

I have tried two different instal strings:

msiexec.exe /qb! /i "DirectAccess_Connectivity_Assistant_2_0_x64.msi" ALLUSERS=2 /m SIIITTT

msiexec.exe /i "DirectAccess_Connectivity_Assistant_2_0_x64.msi" /qn

Application log on client says Installation completed successfully.

What is the reason for the unwanted reboot?

I have installed the sw manually, that works fine. No reboot there.

Trying to deploy SCCM Client upgrade...

$

A few days ago I upgraded our SCCM 2007 R2 Site Server with SP2.  I did this in preparation for Windows 7 support and deployment.  Anyhow, I decided to release the client upgrade via software distribution using the same package that I include with my image deployment (data source is \\server\sms_001\client )

Yesterday, I created an advertisement to distribute the SCCM client upgrade to my entire network but today System Center Console is reporting that out of 1148, 996 have not yet started, 0 succeeded, and 149 have failed.  We're a school so most of our computers are off.  The issue is that of the computers that are on 149 have failed with 0 reporting a success....or so they say.

I checked a few of my clients and the ccmsetup.log indicates that installation has in fact succeeded.  However, what the "status of a specific advertisement" report is telling me is that the client failed with the "last status message name" column indicating "Program Failed (unexpected restart)".  It shows the same thing for all clients that have reported a failure.

The software package program function is configured to run the following and I'm not using any client options:  "CCMSETUP.EXE /noservice SMSSITECODE=AUTO"

Any ideas why the client appears to have been upgraded but reporting a failure?

Below is the execmgr.log:

SCCM 2012 R2 - Deploy Application from DFS

$

Hello All,

I have been struggling with this for the last few days. I have been trying to deploy Applications from a DFS share but cannot get it to work. It appears that the MSI cannot be found when MSIEXEC is invoked (error 1619). I have checked the paths and permissions and there does not appear to be an issue there (both the Site Server and installation user account have permissions). Under the Deployment Type I have the following:
Content Tab - Empty
Programs Tab
  Installation Program: msiexec /i "\\dfsroot\Software\Install\7zip\7z920x64.msi"
  Installation start in: \\dfsroot\Software\Install\7zip
User Experience Tab
  Installation behavior: Install for system
Logon requirement: Whether or not a user is logged on
Installation program "font-family:'Open Sans', sans-serif;font-size:14.2857141494751px;">I checked the event log on the client and MSIEXEC is getting invoked under the SYSTEM account. That obviously won't work.

What am I missing?

App gets runtime error 429 when deploying via SCCM

I have an application I'm trying to deploy and it works fine when manually running the app (silently) on my test machine. When deploying it from SCCM and then trying to run the program you get a message saying "Run time error 429 - activex component can't create object".

I can silently run the exe for the app from a command prompt. I can also do the same if I use the programs MSI file instead.

If I use the exe, msi or batch from SCCM it fails. I've tried deploying when a user is logged in or logged off.

One of the frustrating issues is I have been able to make it work on some systems, but not all. It fails more often than not. I'm wondering if it has something to do with a windows update (maybe .net framework) that isn't the same on each system.

I have already checked logs and haven't been able to find anything.

Any ideas?
