Distribute file to appdata of the logged in user

Hi,

My requirement is to istribute a file on a specific path i.e. c$\Users\userprofile\AppData\Roaming\
So i had created a package 
and created a share drive
the command which i am using is :
cmd /c copy /y "\\sharedrive\Share_Testing\file.txt" "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\"

The issue i am facing is that our client systems have multiple user profiles, and i want to put this file to a particular user profile that is logged in.
whereas , the command takes userprofile as "default".


pls help.

Package downloads stucks at 12% on client machines

Hello Expert

I am facing issue with package download for one of package on client machine. it copies 12% of the package and stucks there only.

i checked all earlier forums and checked all the settings. i.e boundary configuration, BITS cofiguration. all looks fine.

checked CAS, datatransfer,execmgr, contenttransfer,locationservices. client can locate correct DP but stuck at 12%. i see few files are copied.

here is the extract of files.

DP not working

Hello,

A new Distribution Point has been installed as role on a new server.

When trying to use the new DP for the distribution of a package it is giving an error:

Severity	Type	Site code	Date / Time	System	Component	Message ID	Description
Error	Milestone	DTS	5/7/2014 1:07:16 PM	CONFIGMGRDTS	SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER	2302	SMS Distribution Manager failed to process package "CP67 Update" (package ID = DTS000C2).    Possible cause: Distribution manager does not have access to either the package source directory or the distribution point.  Solution: Verify that distribution manager can access the package source directory/distribution point.    Possible cause: The package source directory contains files with long file names and the total length of the path exceeds the maximum length supported by the operating system.  Solution: Reduce the number of folders defined for the package, shorten the filename, or consider bundling the files using a compression utility.    Possible cause: There is not enough disk space available on the site server computer or the distribution point.  Solution: Verify that there is enough free disk space available on the site server computer and on the distribution point.    Possible cause: The package source directory contains files that might be in use by an active process.  Solution: Close any processes that maybe using files in the source directory.  If this failure persists, create an alternate copy of the source directory and update the package source to point to it.

I noticed that there is no share on this new DP. When is it supposed to be created? Manually? Automatically by the role?

The distribution point server name has been added to the Security Group having access to the source of the package.

Run another program first

run another program first in sccm program advance tab

there are two packages A and B

for package A , package B is prerequisite, package A will call package B but after  installing package B restart required we configured that in sccm program advance window

but sccm restart optopn taking 6 hours by default any option to change time

Command line install of a .themepack file

Is there a way to command line install a themepack file?  Windows 7 is the nicest looking OS by far from Microsoft, but themepacks are an outstanding addition.  Would love to be able to push some out to our users.

Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

Last Status Message ID -10040 - Program will not rerun

Ive deployed a package which reprts 99% success. if i look at the report of the succesful clients about half are reporting the state message above & the other half  10008 - Program completed with success.

 

Have the machines with state mesage ID 10040 actually run the package succesfully or is SCCM miss reporting them?.

Forefront Endpoint Protection Definitions Not Updated via SCCM (SCCM 2012 SP1)

Hi All

We have an issue of FEP definitions not updating correctly.

1. Clients getting definitions updates from the internet, not SCCM. Any solution?

2. Currently, we have around 20 workstations installed with FEP but having more than 7 different definitions versions within those. Waited for a couple of days but still not updating.. kind of random.

Any advice where to check or what is to be done?

Problems streaming specific App-V applications from specific distribution point. Cannot find any KB article on the error?

Hi there,

Some clients are having trouble streaming specific app-v packages from a specific distribution point.

sftlog.txt shows the following on the client:

The client was unable to connect to an Application Virtualization Server (rc 2460410A-40002EFD)

I have recreated the DP based on the best practice for removing the DP and re-adding, as we've had other app issues which needed tidying up, but that has not fixed this issue.

I have searched for the above error (The client was unable to connect to an Application Virtualization Server (rc 2460410A-40002EFD) but I get no results.

Please help me with this, I've deleted the DP content and re distributed the content to the DP with no change.. If I remove the DP, the content is able to be streamed from other DP's no problem.

Is it possible to create mandatory advertisement without force Run

Hi All

1.We want to create the mandatory advertisement with without force run and want to run it from RAP

2. I already knows that if I will create non mandatory advertisement it will sit in RAP and will not run.

But I want to implement point 1 as I want content to be downloaded in cache quickly and want to run it manually from RAP.

We have an advertisement that was supposed to run @ 6.00 am in the morning.

But instead it ran at 10.16 am

This is what i have found in execmgr.log

and again it got enabled @ 10.16 am.

Due to which advertisement did not run at 6.00 am and instead it ran at 10.16 am.

I installed SCCM 2012 Beta 2 and have followed many online videos to set this up.  The clients have been installed fine, and i have created several packages (Firefox 4.0) following several instructional video's.  The software package shows up fine in the software center on the client, however when i click the install button, i get the following error.  Unable to start software change.  There was a problem changing the software. The software could not be found on any servers at this time.  I have checked the distribution points and everything looks like its setup correctly.  I believe the permissions on the directory are setup correctly also, Authenticated Users have Read and Execute permissions on the directory where the firefox.exe is saved.

Advertisement is Accepted by

Hello,

I am distributing a single file which is less than 100KB to all the computers on a domain.

I noticed that the advertisement is accepted by 3 to 6 computers at a time. Is there a way to increase the number of concurrent executions of an advertisement?

We do not have a BDP. I have disabled BITS as well. I am unable to wrap my head around the fact that it might take more than 5-6 hours at this rate. a script to copy would have taken less time!

Software install runing immediatley despite setting to 'logon' or 'logoff' event. HELP!

 We have a piece of software needing to be installed while the user is not in Internet Explorer. However the vast majority of our users have IE open all the time so the update must be applied when they login into Windows as they would not have IE open yet. If they are in the application (IE), the software update will fail.   

 I just need to have the update install right after the user logs into our out of Windows. For this specific case, In the program I set it to ’Run weather or not a user is logged in.’ In the advertisement, the mandatory assignment is set to ‘Logon.’ When I have these two settings specified, it starts running immediately when a user is logged into the PC. What is the wrong setting here?  Could PC’s of received the advertisement and started running before I changed the Mandatory Assignment to ‘Logon?'  I also tried setting it to a 'Logoff' event and same result.

What will be the effects after removing c$ share in windows 7, is it advisable to remove C$ share. will there be any problem for deploying patches and application through sccm. Will there be any issues for remote trouble shooting?.
