Best Way to make available a package to dp with low bandwidth

$

Hi All

There is situation, where we have 2 DP's in SCCM 2007 setup one on high bandwidth and other on low bandwidth. We are able to replicate the package in one DP with High Bandwidth { go to mange dp of that package and make the selction of one, then update dp} but not in other one with very low bandwidth.

We cannot use courier sender due to some reason

We have manually collected the folder from DP with high bandwith and copied it to the server share of the DP with low bandwidth. Now i went to the manage dp of the same package selected the DP with low bandwidth then selected it . Update the DP's for the package. When the process for content transfer from source to low bandwidth dp will begin it will check for the package for transfer, but it will find the package already available so no content transfer for software will happen. and after the policy sync for the package replication status we can see targetted =2 and successfull =2 and clients associated with low bandwidth dp will get the content from their local protected boundary.

Is the above said correct, if yes it is the correct way to do the same

I have not mentioned any preloadpkgonsite tool, can we complete the said above with preloadpkgtool only or without it also as said above

SCCM 2007 query to find Scheduled tasks setup on a client.

Hello all,

I have been asked by senior management at the school where i work to automate the shutdown of PCs at a specific time each night.
So I created a batch script that sets up a scheduled task on the clients to do this, and rolled it out via software distribution.

How would I go about creating a query to check which machines do not have the scheduled task?

Script to change local administrator password via Software Distribution?

Good day-

Is it possible (via SCCM Software Deployment) to create a script (bat or vbs) that changes the Local Administrator Password....and deploy via Software Deployment to targeted collections?

Basically deploying a bat file via SCCM to run as SYSTEM.

Simply put...can SCCM execute a bat as SYSTEM.

something like...

@echo off
Net user admin password

Would this work?  If not, does anyone know of a way to do this via SCCM?
I'll be testing this shortly, but wanted to ask anyways to get some quality feedback.

Thanks!

Andrew

Issues distributing packages and receiving Win32 Error = 0

Within the last month or so, we've been experiencing issues distributing various packages to our DP's. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it; it can be any combination of packages and DP's.

We've noticed that just before the Win32 error occurs, the following 4 lines usually precede the error:

UpdateStagedFile failed; 0x80070040

UpdateStagedFolderRdc failed; 0x80070040

UpdateStagedFolderRdc failed; 0x80070040

UpdateStagedFolderRdcW failed; 0x80070040

We've had an open ticket with MS for over a week now, but there hasn't been any progress.

Any light you guys could shed on this would be greatly appreciated!

Software Distribution results in "The exit code is 1, the execution status is FailureNonRetry"

I am using sccm 2007 to deploy Symantec Edntpoint Protection. The software is installed OK but the execmgr.log shows "The exit code is 1, the execution status is FailureNonRetry" and registry entry for the package shows failure code 1 and status as failure. However, the application runs properly without any problem.
I recall that someone posted that if you let the system to reboot after installation, the installation would be logged as successful. However, I tried both "Software restarts computer" and "ConfigMgr restarts computer", but both configuration settings did not re-start the computer and I still get exit code 1.

Any suggestions?

I am also wondering if there is anyway to prompt the user for a manual reboot of the system after the installation.

Thanks.

Stephen

I can't get the check box for "Require administrator approval if users request this application"to be avialable when creating a deployment for a Package in SCCM 2012.

I am deploying it to a User collection and setting the Purpose to Available but that doesn't fix it.

Do anyone have any idea?

Deploying Powershell scripts via SCCM

I used to deploy .ps1 files from SMS 2003 successfully using the following command:

powershell -command .\script.ps1

unfortunatly its just failing after the allowed elapsed time specified in application. I have the script execution policy set on the machine as RemoteSigned. I have read the following blog about deploying to x64 and powershell referancing SysWoW64.

If i run the command remotly from my machine it works fine. But deploying from SCCM isnt.. I have tried changing the execution policy in the command to:

powershell.exe -executionpolicy bypass -file .\script.ps1 and still doesnt work...

Has anyone got any experiance with deploy powershell scripts through sccm?

We have our package source store on a Netapp Filer and i am getting an error when trying to create a compressed copy of the source directory.

I was wondering if is an Window 2008 server issue accessing the filer.

This is a clip our my distmgr.log file.

How does a script know its in a task sequence?

I want to pass a variable back to a task sequence from a script.  This script is in a package, and could be run as an advert or from the TS.  If I try to enable Microsoft.SMS.TSEnvironment and I'm not in a TS, it will generate an error.

Is there a way I can KNOW that I'm in a TS prior to doing so?

SCCM Package Not Loading

$

We have a distribution point that is getting the .pck file copied to it but it never successfully unpacks that file and load it onto the DP Share. When the unpacking gets to the very end it fails and then starts over again in a constant loop. Each time it does this the temp folder is automatically removed and it starts to unpack to a new temp folder.

This package is loading on the other DPs fine.

Optional Deployment with Deadline

I want a deploy a Office 2013 package and my design is like that ;

1. The package content should be downloaded by all the clients as soon as possible.
2. Users should have option to install this package until the deadline that I set this package for. (If the start installation the content will be already in their local.)
3. At the end of this deadline the package should be installed automatically.

I know this can perform in software update management (patch management) but I want to do this for an (Office 2013 package ) installation script.

Is it possible ?

Clients installing packages correctly but not reporting back

Hi,

I've come on to a clients site who had a 3rd party come in and deploy SCCM 2007 for them and did not much of a hand over. I've cleaned up as I can but I have something that has stumped me.

For almost all packages deployed, the packages are installed and work fine, however no status message is every returned\processed by the clients. So the reports always show no Status. I've dug through the client execmgr.log and found the following single line

VerQueryValue failed for ProductName, file C:\Windows\system32\CCM\Cache\MEL000A5.1.S-1-5-21-4078366174-1947741836-1944681223-28565\install-connectorID-Key-5_6_1-winStandard.exe, error 1813

However a few lines later

Execution is complete for program Stratusphere FIT. The exit code is 0, the execution status is Success

In the server I've check the Offer, Mp, and Invproc logs none are showing any errors. The inboxes "look" clean but I'm no experts when it comes to those.

Any suggestions on where to look next?

Cheers

Hello Experts

I am experiencing hast mismatch when downloading packages from RAP. i have gone through most of forums, blogs but doesn't seems helping it. few packages have issues with few DPs only not even all packages on specific DPs. so i am struggling to understand issue with package or DP. i have done below steps to resolve prob but no luck.

1. Refresh package on DP, but no luck.

2. Deleted package from DP, waited to update status for an hour. updated source version manually in DB.

update pkgstatus set Status = 2 where id = 'package Id' and sitecode = 'Sitecode' and type = 1
update pkgstatus set SourceVersion = 0 where id = 'packageID' and sitecode = 'Sitecode' and type = 1

re-distributed package on DP.

can someone suggest on this.

Thanks.!

Install Package Using RunAs

Hello,

I am running SCCM 2007 R3 and I created my first software package (SCOM 2012 R2 Agent).  I have a simple batch file that checks whether the OS is 32 or 64 bit and determines which .exe to run.  The package gets created and copied down to the clients, but I do not see any progress.  I guess it's because it is using the local System account.  How can I get the package to run under an account that has Administrative rights on the clients?
