Hi.

I've included some details below if anyone can give me an idea of what is going wrong here.

Package contains.

  • Sun <Dir>
  • -Java <Dir>
  • --Deployment <Dir>
  • ---deployment.config
  • ---deployment.properties
  • Data1.cab
  • install.bat
  • jre1.7.0_21.msi

Advertisement is set to download content and run locally.

Install.bat contains

  • xcopy /S /Y "%~dp0Sun" "%SystemRoot%\Sun"
  • start /WAIT msiexec /i "%~dp0jre1.7.0_21.msi" /qn /Lime C:\temp\java1.7.log

install.bat files works fine when ran outside of an advertisement. But when I run the advertisement through run advertised it just hangs at 0% and won't download the package. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the path and I've heard SCCM doesn't handle special characters very well which I've also had problems with in the past, but there are no special characters in this case.

A side question: Why does the CCM\CACHE\PackageID.Version sometimes contain a SID behind it on some clients? It kinda worries me that some packages might have "path to long" issues because of this.

SCCM Detection Method: Error 0x87D00327 (-2016410841) Script is not signed

When I use the custom script to detect the presence of the deployment, I receive the above listed error message when it runs the detection method. I went back and signed my script as you can see below and it still gives that error message. The only fix I have seen on the net is to use VBscript as a wrapper to execute the powershell script. Is this a know issue? Thanks.

Is there a way I can make a task sequence end reporting success even though the last task it ran reported a non-zero exit code?

I was going to try setting the _SMSTSLastActionRetCode and/or _SMSTSLastActionSucceeded variables to 0, but when I try to add either or those steps, I recevie a message stating "Please enter the valid task sequence variable".

For the past several days our Central site has been getting hammered with Distrmgr.box/Incoming files, the distribution manager components shows over 100K informational events from all the DPs. I don't really know what is forcing all these backlogs nor what triggered all these DP's to get new information. Nor i see any errors in the distrmgr.log.

This is from System Status/Components/SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER.

SMS Distribution Manager instructed SMS scheduler and Sender to send the package information for package "XXXXXXX",

Help!!! Here is what I am trying to do. I am trying to copy a .txt file from a network share to C:\Windows\System32\xxxx

Here is what I have tried so far.

1) Create a .bat file and created a package in SCCM. I reference this batch file from the command like in SCCM. DID NOT WORK.

xcopy /y "File location on domain. I cant put the wack wack because im a new user "  "C:\Windows\System32\location"

I tried this next after reading some post.

2) Do not use a batch file and enter the commands directly into the Command Line after the Package has been created in SCCM.

Do under Packages -> Programs -> Command Line ->

xcopy /y "File location on domain. I cant put the wack wack because im a new user "C:\Windows\System32\location"

This does not work as well. I need SCCM to copy a folder from the network to the C drive on multiple machines. Thanks in advance.

Maximum Allowed runtime in SCCM 2012

Hi,

If we provide a "Maximum Allowed runtime" for a particular program and let say that program has a dependency program which should be excuted first. If thats the case do we need to add both the run time and provide it in the Main application "Maximum Allowed runtime" or we can use the same time as it is and metion the required time for the dependency application in the dependecies "Maximum Allowed runtime" time frame.

For example:

Main application : 20 mins

Dependecy application 30 mins

What would be the "Maximum Allowed runtime" for main application and dependency application?

Thanks,

Nana

1. How to stopd this package from retrying for ever...?

2. Limit the size requested as it is a command file and needs may be 10 Mb max

Any idea?

Thanks,

Clients not receiving Advertisement after hotfix installation

$

Hi All,

we have installed some hotfix and after that clients are not receiving and advertisement policy.

we are using SCCM 2007 SP2 it is in Mixed mode.

i have checked the policypv.log and there i could see that it successfully creates the policy but when i check the client logs i dont find that policy arriving there.

if i create a package and distribute to the clients it receives the policy and starts downloading the package.

Clients are healthy and showing Client as Yes and they are in appropriate collection where i am advertising.

In advertisement status Received is 0.

I have checked

ccmexec.log

execmgr.log

policyagent.log

locationservices.log

policyevaluator.log

everything looks fine and other functionality is also working fine like package distribution, inventory, policy refresh.

after the hotfix install, we have also checked for RESETISAPI.TRN and this file is not there now. Looks like it completed its scan.

let me know if anything else i can check.

Run Command Line Error

I am trying to deploy a package that needs to have files deleted for it to work

So i have a bat that needs to be dumped on the local machine and ran (due to %userprofile%\local\microsoft\outlook)

So the Ts goes like:

Install program

Create dir

cmd.exe /c md C:\osc

xcopy bat to dir

xcopy.exe ".\OSCDel.bat" "C:\OSC"

run dir

C:\OSC\OSCDel.bat

So the first 3 things in the Ts work flawlessly but when it comes down to running the bat that was copied over it fails out.

The logs show that it's trying to execute cmd in the SCCM DP directory...

I have tried to start it in the "C:\OSC" dir but still no go.

any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know what might cause this?

Invalid executable file

We have a program (Ansys) on multiple W7x64 computers with a uninstall.exe in the program folder. We need to run this Uninstall.exe program to uninstall the software so that we can install a new version. I created a batch file that works when you launch it manually however through SCCM it fails with  "Invalid executable file" taken from the execmgr.log file. Here is my batch file:

Batch File Test One:

Call "c:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\Uninstall.exe" –silent

Batch File Test Two:

Call "%programfiles%\ANSYS Inc\Uninstall.exe" –silent

In the SCCM Program command line, I have the command line directly pointed to this batch file. I have ran batch files before this way with no issues, but I have never had to point to a uninstall program on the local machine to initiate an uninstall. So I am confused.  Help?

Reminders not appearins on Windows 7 x64 SCCM 2007 clients

$

I setup a manatory advertisement targeting a Task Sequence to a Windows 7 x64 machine. On the advertisement under Interaction I checked all the check boxes.

-Allow users to run it independently

-display reminders according to client agent reminder settings

-use countdown

-show TS progress

Under Computer client agent settings under site settings I have set the reminder time set to 4 hours.

After the advertisement appeared on my Windows 7 box it displayed the message box I have a Required Program and shows me the mandatory date and time. After closing this I never get a reminder (according to the computer client agent settings). I am not reminded every fours hours of this mandatory program. My XP machines are working just fine.

Also I have noticed this same issue when deploying Software Updates. The Win7 clients receive a popup for the patches but you do not get reminded again. We give the end user several days to install the patches.

Is this something new with Windows 7? Is it supposed to work this way?

My XP clients are working like they should, showing the reminders.

Thanks

What to do with @__timezoneoffset in SQL Query?

$

0

Several of the canned reports (as an example, Computers that have run a specific metered software program) use the @__timezoneoffsetin them, and don't declare it--and it works in the web report.  If you try running them in SQL Manager (as is or if you are attempting to make a modified report) you get the error

Msg 137, Level 15, State 2, Line 16

Must declare the scalar variable "@__timezoneoffset".

What is the correct way to handle using @__timezoneoffset?

Thanks!

How can I deploy software to all of our computers without adverstising to the "All Systems" collection

$

Hello all!

We are upgrading one of our companies applications and need to deploy it to all of our computers only (excluding servers). I created the program / package

tested it on several test pc and the app installed and launched with no problem. The next step will be to deploy to all computers in our company but I am little

unclear on the best method. I know that advertsieing such a deployemt to the All Comuters collection is not consider best practice for many reasons.

Our servers are also in the All Computers collection and I dont want to install this app on any of our servers. Any recomendation on a specfic method would be

appreciated.

So I would like to deploy this program to all of our computers and exclude servers.

Thanks,

Phil

Hello

I am trying to create a Query Collection for computers with Windows 7 installed and does not have Software X installed.

This is what I have for the OS portion of it complete - see below:

select SMS_R_System.SMSAssignedSites, SMS_R_System.LastLogonUserDomain, SMS_R_System.LastLogonUserName, SMS_R_System.Name, SMS_R_System.NetbiosName, SMS_R_System.OperatingSystemNameandVersion, SMS_R_System.ResourceId, SMS_R_System.SystemRoles from  SMS_R_System where SMS_R_System.OperatingSystemNameandVersion like "%Workstation 6.1%"

The only part missing is how to add the "does not have software X installed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
